I'm just wondering what to 'work on' next with my DD, who is 2y9m. Not in a pushy way you understand, she just loves learning new things when we play together (she's a right little show-off! ).

She knows numbers/counting to 10, and can fairly reliably count actual objects. Very confident on shapes/colours/size. She knows most of the capital letters and some of the small case, but I'm reluctant to push the letter sounds - while her language is really good, she struggles with actually making some speech sounds, it's a shame as she wants to learn them! But I can't teach her the sound a C makes if she can't copy the sound can I?

So, just wondering what we could do next, I'm out of ideas! She's a very physical person BTW, e.g. the colours only 'clicked' when we got her a peg board.

TIA!

What about counting and matching the numbers? How is she at that? ie by making lilly pads with numbers up to 5 on and then using plastic frogs (from ELC) and matching the frog to the numbers so 2 frogs on the number 2 lilly pad.

Geoboards. I made one myself, out of off cut of wood and nails. Great for geometry and making pictures.

How about making a nature book/journal, if you start it now with spring things (pressed daffodils/drawing or photo of baby lambs etc) then add to it bit by bit through the year you will soon have all the seasons then next year can go back and add to it as well as reading what you did then

Oh and planting seeds, that can be a great thing for them to learn, if she is impatient maybe do some cress as well as other things but you could plant a tomatoe plant or sunflower and watch it grow.

Oxford Reading Tree do a set of flashcardswith letters etc. Dd enjoyed guessing the letter. We used to play a lot of eye spy to link letters/sounds to actual things. B is for bus, c is for cat etc
