Do half-day nursery schools exist?

Do half-day nursery programmes exist in London for three-year olds? My daughter attends one here in Canada but we're moving to London this summer and I wanted to see if there's a similar option in London.

If they do exist, does anyone know of a morning or afternoon programme in Islington or Canary Wharf?

Thanks so much!

You would probably find them described as Preschools rather than Nurseries which are more often daycare

Loads of nurseries have half days in London. Which area are you moving to? Look on internet at the local bourough's website for pre school education to see what's available.

canuckmum all nurseries will offer half day places, because this is the government funded entitlement for all 3 and 4 year old in the UK. You should be able to send your child to a privately run nursery/daycare place where you could pay extra for extra hours e.g. while you work. There are also dedicated nursery schools which may or may not be run by local councils or a nursery class in a local primary school which will only offer half day places for each child.
Do you know which area of London you are moving to? Can you go on their website etc to find a list of local nursery providers?

Sessional nursery schools do happily exist - some attached to state schools, some independent. Your local council should be able to provide a list of all providers in your area.
