Query about committee?

Hello, I've not posted before so please be nice to me!
I work at a small committee run pre-school.
Lately we have been having not as many parents join the committee, therefore less people willing to help with fundraising/advertising.
I feel the committee don't really understand the pressures that we have as sometimes their suggestions are very difficult to work with and when we have run special sessions they have thought up they are nowhere to be seen!
Does anyone have any suggestions of anything the staff and I can do?

Don't worry too much about whether people like you or not. You are responsible for the day to day stuff at the pre-school so only do what you can. If you don't think you will get the support for an activity, don't run it. You could say you'll run a special session if the commitee can give you a list of helpers by such and such a date and if none is forthcoming - don't do it. I'm sure your own ideas are spot on as you are the one with the training. Some of the commitee may take umbrage but I'm sure others will understand you being assertive. Always say it's for the good of the children - which I'm sure it is!

Thanks Openbook- I like the idea of having helpers set in stone before agreeing to do the bloody thing. Will be doing that asap!
