Is there anyone out there involved in pre-school management committee or similar who has managed to get council funding for a new building or mobile classroom type thing? I am looking into options for our setting and am wondering about costs, time taken, logistics etc so any advice would be very useful. Thanks

Hi Rhinobaby

We were fighting this battle a while ago and our council didn't fund us for a new building, but they were helpful in leading talks with other education establishments who have now funded a new building for us. Have you spoken to your district co-ordinator at your council? I would write a business plan stating why you need a new building/ location and how much better your provision would be if you had one...increased sessions, more flexibility, better access for disadvantaged children/ families etc etc. Questionnaires of parents in the area asking what they would like/ use carried alot of weight. BUT be preared to get embroiled in huge political fights as there are alot of people fighting for a small anmount of money! In all its taken 6 years for us to move (5 years of looking and 1 year to actually be offered a place and move!!!)

We have a new build

we were told to apply for funding from County as they had a pot of money to be distributed (we were going to apply for a laptop!!)

It took 18 months but was worth it.

prior to this we rented a room from a school, but they helped as they needed the room back for their use.
