We had parents evening at DS's nursery last night. His key worker mentioned that DS is on level 4, but she is planning on moving him up to level 5. Being our PFB, I was so overcome with excitement and pride at the fact he was moving up a grade that I forgot to ask what it actually means - if anything!! Anyone know what it's all about? DS is very nearly 3 if that helps!!

It's the Early years foundation profile. I don't know the average level for a nearly 3 yr old I'm afraid. but here's the profile so you can see

The EYFS profile doesn't have levels the scale points aren't hierarchial so there is no moving up just developing. A score of 6 in the EYFS profile at the end of reception is considered "average". Also the EYFS profile is not an assessment for children before reception age.
Perhaps the level 4/5 is an assessment system the setting uses.
