As you might recall from a thread I started last week, we're possibly going to open a satellite site from our existing preschool.

Although there won't be any structural costs associated with the new building (i.e. all conversion is done, toilets & kitchen fitted, etc.) and there is basic furniture in place, there is absolutely nothing else. No toys, art materials, books, musical instruments etc.

Has anyone been involved recently in setting up a preschool from scratch and if so, would you be able to give me some very rough, ball-park figures with which to budget?

Also, are there any secret sources of new or nearly-new equipment that I should know about?!? Was wondering even whether to do the rounds of NCT sales or something looking for toys.

Thanks for any help.

Can't help with setting up costs. How long is a piece of string?

Toy libraries can be fantastic though. Contact your council to see what there is on offer in your area. Ours has special rates for groups, seem s fairly realistic about breakages and losses. Loads of out door stuff and themed educational stuff.
