Hi everyone, how on earth do I pick a school, decide whether pre-school or separate nursery first is ok and get on with it, as my DD is two years old and Wimbledon has lots of schools but I'm not from here and on't know what I'm doing!

It all comes down to where you live. This should connect you to the merton websitewhich will reveal all.

To cut a long story short you need to look at your local schools (unless you are thinking of applying to a church school in which case they have their own criteria). The closer you are to a school the more likely you are to get a place. Many of Wimbledons schools are oversubscribed and in some cases you have to be living within 500m to get a place. We live near Wimbledon and our nearest school is RC. We are not catholic so applied to our two nearest non church schools for DDs nursery place. She started the term after her 3 rd birthday (Jan). You can use a private nursery instead. The attachment above also details a list of local provate nurseries. Wimbledon nurseries tend to be alot of money though.

Feel free to ask more questions as I have just done all this recently for my DD.

Just remebered. If you are going to send your DD to a school nursery you need to put her name down on the list and they will send you the application form at the right time. We looked at our nearest two when DD was about 2 and then put her on the list of our preferred school. They sent us a form about last Octobr time and we found out in Nov/Dec where she got a place for Jan. There are 3 intakes: Sep, Jan and April. Not sure when the dates have to be in.
