DC (3yrs old) attends a school nursery. Ever year, all the Foundation Stage children appear in a Christmas play: the younger children sing (and sit still) and the older children have speaking parts.
Whilst this year's play is lovely - and very professional - DC is exhausted. The play is 30 minutes in length and, leaving aside the rehearsals (which DC started to consider an unwelcome interruption from play), it is performed three times. On the day of the last performance, DC did not want to take part again (but did so)!
Whilst illness and the end of a long term have, no doubt, contributed to DC's tiredness, I do wonder whether the focus on the play - although I loved watching DC, who did seem to enjoy taking part - could be a little too much for such young children. I was wondering, therefore, whether other school nurseries do anything similar?
