Which days at preschool?

DD is at preschool for three days a week. I work Thursdays and Fridays so she has to attend then. At the moment, she’s also going on a Tuesday but the week feels a bit disjointed and I’m wondering if going on a Monday (then having two consecutive days with me) or a Wednesday (and having three days in a row at preschool) might work better? Would welcome thoughts.

What's the preschool policy on bank holidays? There are a large number of Monday bank holidays and different preschool policies state different things. Some you are expected to pay as its your normal day even though they aren't open so something to check

It is closed for bank holidays but I’m not too fussed about them as it’s only really the May bank holiday it affects. We get fifteen funded hours and she’s there for eighteen so it’s only a small bill.

I’m worst person to ask as my kids went 7.30-5.30 min-Fri from 11 months old when I had to go back to work. They adjust and adapt. And presumably next year will do 5 days at school so good to build stamina now

How settled is she? I think Mondays would feel even more disjointed for her, having two days at home either side. I'd say Wednesday would work better, based on how the children got on when I worked at one.

She seems fairly settled @MCF86 but I do think it’s quite tiring for her, especially on the two days I work as I have to have her go to a childminder in the morning and be collected, so it’s a long day.

Could do half day Wednesday? You collect at lunch?

We do Monday, Thursday Friday. I’m not too used to it yet as we’re only our second week in of doing Fridays. My other daughter who just started school did Monday, Wednesday and Thursday which I liked

As well as the Tuesday or in addition to? Selfishly I’d really rather not do that. It’s literally the only time I have to myself and reducing it from six hours to three would make me want to cry a bit, I think!

I don't really see any benefit in moving it to the monday unless it's easier/better for you to have that as your break for yourself (which is entirely valid!). If you think 3 in a row is too much for her at the moment maybe consider revisiting it later in the year if they have space to be a step towards 5 in a row come September (unless she's 2 in which case ignore me)

I did Wed - Fri in the hope that any bugs the children picked up over the weekend would be out of the building by the time he got in on Wednesday. Didn’t work 🤣
