Have people been invited to these in the term before the dc is due to start school?
Did you take youngest child too?
Not quite sure what to do with dd - haven't got anyone to look after her and me and ds have been invited to the school for a look around and chat with teachers etc

Ring the school and ask if it's ok to bring her?
At my DCs' school the children go off to the class while the parents get the 'talk'.

I always took my younger children with me.

posieflump · 04/05/2008 19:21

yes I suppose I should ring the school
Juule - did anyone mind?

Nobody minded. Take a colouring book and pencils or something to keep them amused. Raisins to bribe with. Usually the school had books or something to keep the little ones occupied but I took something with me for if they didn't have anything.

Only ds was invited. I dropped him off, he stayed an hour or so and then I picked him up again.

Are you sure they want the parents to stay ? Is it not about familiarising the children with their school/classroom/being there without mummy ?

DS has had 3 or 4 sessions now. The first one there were some younger siblings around I think. Now they are mostly going in on their own but there are a couple of buggies left outside with younger children in whilst the parents settle the older child.

posieflump · 13/05/2008 17:22

I'm pretty sure we're meant to stay as they asked if dh was coming too
