Staff hitting children

What would you do if you knew a nursery staff member had hit a child. Setting has CCTV but management do nothing about said incident. Not the only issue at the setting. Is this a 'report to the police' matter? Ofsted previously notified about separate incident and staff member fired immediately.

If you are certain, absolutely the police.

Common assault of a child is a serious matter, especially within a risk assessed environment governed by safeguarding procedures. Report to Police, local authority and license granting authority.

If this is in the Uk then absolutely ofsted and police, if I had a child at the nursery I would also be removing them immediately.

WetBandits · 15/06/2024 10:43

Of course the police if you have know there is CCTV evidence of it! Nothing stopping that staff member getting another job with tiny children. I would hope it’s already been reported by Ofsted but I would absolutely call the police.

Have the preschool really not done anything about a staff member who hit a child?

hockityponktas · 15/06/2024 10:54

Do you really have to ask?
Ofsted and Lado immediately.
