Early Chapter Book Suggestions?

For me to read aloud to DS who is 4. We’ve read Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair which he loved. I could do with a break from Enid Blyton now but most other things seem too grown-up at this stage.

Try the "Sophie" books by Dick King-Smith

We loved "The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark".

Some of the Arthur Ransome has been great ("The Big Six" was particularly good).

"The Wind in the Willows" has been a bit tough going - we're most of the way through, but DS hasn't requested it in a while, so I expect we'll leave it and come back to it afresh when he's a bit older.
