Pre School Ofsted Report

My daughter's Pre School / Nursery had an Ofsted inspection a few weeks back. It still hasn't been published but I enquired the other day if they knew what the outcome of the inspection was. Which they said they did know but they cannot tell me until the report is published, which I found really odd. Is this true that they are not allowed to tell you until it's been published?

Yes, it is. It’s one of the ridiculous and horrible things about the way the Ofsted system works.

Yes that is how it works because in theory it gives time for the setting to appeal against a poor grade before the grade and report are released. In theory!

As an aside, the stress and loneliness of having to keep the results of her school’s downgraded ofsted results a secret for weeks was one of the contributing factors to Ruth Perry’s suicide. She didn’t even tell her own sister the results.

It seems sensible to me not to release the result verbally, to avoid speculation and misinformation. I can’t see any problem at all, and I don’t think it’s ridiculous to wait for the official report publication before the outcome is confirmed.
