DH forgot to get DD from preschool

As the title says DH forgot to pick our three year old up. I did get there as soon as I could but was about twenty minutes late.

Will there be further fees etc or worried they may say she can’t attend. I obviously feel awful for DD and staff.

How many times is she picked up early? My nursery never charged if it was less than 30 mins as it pretty much balanced out with the random early pick ups.

I have so many reminders on my phone for stuff like this, I cannot trust my brain to remember everything I should or be aware of time always. They'll be fine about it, it happens! Just make sure he sets reminders now.

Why do you feel bad? Why wasn't he rushing off to get her the instant he was reminded? Why did you pick up his slack?

ChittaChatta · 12/01/2024 22:18

Our nursery charge £5 for every 10 mins!

That aside, I'd be fuming and so upset. Staff gave their own kids to pick up and he should have prioritised this. It's not about being perfect, I bet you don't forget to collect your child.

My husband was late picking up Granddaughter and we were charged £15 ! Husband paid and I actually agreed with the fine . It’s a long day for the workers and it meant someone had to leave work late !
The forgetting to pick up ,is just one of those absent minded moments that most people have had in their adult lives .
I personally would not be angry…it’s not going to change what has happened and wasn’t intentional. We are all human 🤷‍♀️

Parentofeanda · 12/01/2024 22:25

my old nursery charged 5 pounds for every 5 minutes

What happened when the nursery called? Did you ring dh to go get her?

This.

why did you leave your appointment? Why didnt he go for her when he was contacted? how much parenting does he do?

Our nursery have a £50 fee for lateness as the problem has become a daily occurrence unfortunately

Geeseflysouthtowarmerclimes · 12/01/2024 22:39

Thanks. Preschool finished at 3, my appointment had actually just finished then which is why I’d asked DH to get her, as I obviously couldn’t be in two places at once , but they rang as I was heading home so I just went straight there.

I probably should have reminded him but didn’t want to seem patronising. I’ll definitely remind him next time. And he can buy some chocolate and biscuits for the staff as an apology.

£1 per minute when Dts were in nursery.

I wouldn't be worried about that, I'd be worried he couldn't remember to collect his kid.

Why should you need to remind him? Is he hard of thinking?

Give yourself a break. Your child has another parent too.

My ma used to collect me from school daily.
One day she completely forgot.

I don't think this was a terrible thing, just a human moment.
