Using taxis for school drop offs

My child starts reception in September and we are waiting for our house to sell before we move to the village where the school is. My husband can do school runs 2 days a week but 3 days a week he won’t be able to. I do not drive so will have to get a taxi. I also have a younger child, and am trying to figure out how it will work with car seats and also when we get to school, as I will have to take both children out as obviously wouldn't leave one in the taxi. I just feel uncomfortable about the whole thing and wondered if anyone currently does this with their young children and how it works? Thanks! Or are there any alternatives I’m missing?

I would speak to the other parents (join the class WhatsApp/ FB group) as I'm sure one would be willing to meet you from the taxi and see your DC in without you having to get out.
Or even the staff - one of my DC's primary school had a drop off zone as the parking in the area was awful (very rural village primary with unsafe roads to walk along so most parents from outlying hamlets drove). TAs would help the children out the cars to facilitate very quick drop offs and walk them into the playground.

This sounds difficult. How long do you anticipate needing to do this for? Presumably learning to drive or using public transport isn’t an option?

To make it as easy as possible I’d try to find a taxi driver or company who can send the same driver each day. That way you will know the driver and the car which should make it easier to put the car seats in. Try to buy car seats which are easy to install.

As another poster says, see if another parent could meet you and take your child in. If not you’ll need to take both children in and ask taxi driver to wait.

I’d be trying to minimise the amount of time you have to do this for as it could be hard work and expensive.
