Bute House/Falkner/Glendower commute from Ealing

Hi folks, we are thinking of trying for places for our DD for the above three schools but currently live in Ealing. Does anyone know what the commute is like via tube/driving?

We both work in the city so these schools are on our way there / back but curious to know if other people from Ealing have been doing the commute and how it fares.

Seems like these prep schools are much better than those more local to us (W5 area).

Bute is brilliant, especially the new head. Good luck.

We live locally to the schools, but just from experience I can guess driving to and from Ealing will be madness, especially in rush hour (drop off and pick up times) as the A4 traffic has become worse since COVID and the rail strikes. Not sure about the tube - District and Piccadilly are reliable - one more than the other, but bear in mind you have to do the school run, esp in the morning, again in rush hour. Schools usually advise against commutes longer than 30-40 min (I believe) but I know parents who still do it. It just can be really stressful, especially with after hours clubs, etc. Are you trying for 7+ or 4+ - it also makes somewhat of a difference if the child is older.

Hi, we live in Chiswick and DD goes to Falkner House, we are considering Falkner for our son as well. If things went well, it’s in average 28 mins in the morning and about the same after school. District line for us is guaranteed to be 40mins door to door. We look for on paper, but if A4 is smooth, we can get to FH in just 20mins. It's been more challenging since last October, as there has been constant roadwork.

We could move a bit earlier if we can, but so far, it's been okay for us. If DD goes to one of the schools in Hammersmith, then it's about the same commute from chiswick to Hammersmith vs Kensington to Hammersmith.

Hi @SARTN I hope I can get some advice from you on Bute prep if possible? My DD is heading to Kew college from Orchard for Year 1 and we are keen to do the right prep for her. Have PMed you :) x
