Reception intake 2021

Has anyone been contacted by their child's primary school yet? Had a welcome pack etc?
We haven't received anything and I'm wondering if it would be ok to call and ask a few questions?

We had a welcome pack through a couple of weeks ago, lots of information about the school, school dinners menu, uniform list, that sort of thing. There was also a letter in there saying that our DDs new reception teacher will contact us for a one-on-one chat at some point - not heard anything since that.
You've reminded me that I need to look through it properly, I just flicked through it all first time round.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind you ringing up and asking questions?

Thanks @CaptainSpirit everyone I speak to seems to have been contacted by their child's new school and/or had a welcome pack but I've heard nothing and an email I sent on 11th May hasn't been replied to.....

Although parents get their notifications in April it’s quite standard for Schools not to get your contact details until around now (mid to late May). This allows time for the local authority to process who is taking up which places etc.

At my local primary I know they’ll start the process with new parents after half term.... so I wouldn’t worry just yet 🙂

What you might find useful is to check Facebook or the school website to see if there are groups for parents of the school (either specific to your intake or for the current nursery cohort (who will join reception) or just all parents e.g. PTA groups). From there you might be able to connect with other parents and check that you haven’t missed out. It’s also a nice way to make some connections/source second hand uniform etc

I'm not on social media and have gone through the school's website with a fine toothed comb and found all the information I can, mainly term dates and uniform requirements. I've found PTA info as I'd like to join but it just says to contact the school for further info.

I've send a message through their website today so I'll leave it at that until after half term then try calling.
