Could someone share views/experience on Farrington School (Chiselhurst), Radnor House, The New Beacon and Sevenoaks Preparatory (Sevenoaks) please? I am aware some are co-ed and new beacon is boys only.
I would like to know :

  • how is SEN within these schools?
  • how culturally diverse kids are?
  • what are the downsides you have heard/experienced?

Thanks in advance.

Hi. The only one we have experience of is Radnor house Sevenoaks. Wouldn't recommend it personally. We took our child out as they would not provide for them. Its not an academic school. They come across all bells and whistles, and they have attracted lots of new pupils. They are very good at using social media and the Web to promote the school. I'm not saying it wouldn't be good for everyone and it may suit some. Sports are good - lots of investment there. In my opinion they have expanded too quickly and taken on too many pupils. They've had to take on lots of new staff and really I think they've just had to take anyone. They just don't have the experience to give a thorough, well thought out consistent program of education. Its all a bit hit and miss depending on the teacher you get. If you need anything a bit different they just don't know how to handle it. Definitely not good for SEN.

Hi from these four schools I would recommend Sevenoaks prep, having said that it depends of the child and his/her needs. The one I wouldn’t recommend would be Farringtons school. Everyone knows it is not a school for academically able children and was known to be amazing on pastoral, however I think the change of the leadership team a few years ago is affecting the school tremendously in a negative way.

Parents are increasingly frustrated and this will inevitably affect the reputation of the school.

Our experience there was absolutely awful and as consequence we could not recommend this school. Our friends who initially applied to send their children to Farringtons have just refused their place in favour of other school nearby.
Why risk with your child happiness and well-being when there are so many great private schools around.
