Hi,

Just thought I would post here for advice. I moved to a new area about a year ago and I have 2 children. 1 of which is 2 (3 in November) and starting preschool in January.

I realised that time was ticking and I needed to get my son registered for school (advice here is to register two terms before the germ that they'd be starting) but was panicking as I know nothing about the schools in the area and can't even visit due to the coronavirus outbreak.

I registered him for 3 out of 5 schools in the area, the first one the best one from what I could scarcely gather. Now I have found a report online and the school comes under the orange sector (they are, green, yellow, orange, red). And I'm absolutely gutted. My sons education is important to me and I feel if it weren't for this massive inconvenience, I would've been able to pick one of the better schools.

Don't know what I'm after here really. Has anyone been in the same predicament? I just wish I knew the area better and had a better view of things. I wish I could change the application altogether!
Thanks all xx

Firstly, just checking, are you in England ?

Are you talking about your child starting a Nursery / Pre-school for a few sessions a week, for their socialisation ?

Your ds won't be starting Reception until September 2022, so they will have 5 terms to spend at Pre-school.
If you don't feel happy there, you could move them somewhere else for their Nursery (literally 'pre-school) year

I really wouldn't be concerned about a single report on line being 'orange' either.
Who has written the report ? What aspects of the Pre-school are they reporting on ?
When was the report written and - if it is an inspection - what have the Nursery / Pre-school done to address the issues that could move it into another colour band ?
