School nursery and funded pre school playgroup places the year they are 3 prior to 2nd July.
Primary age 4 prior to 2nd July in the year they are due to start (current year 4 before 2nd July 2019.)
Paying playgroups generally take children from 2 years 10 months If they have spare places.
Playgroups seem to have a different meaning in England. In Northern Ireland parents do not stay, they are like pre nursery years.
Private schools Preparatory departments of some Grammar schools are fee paying.

You need to apply for nursery and primary 1 places NOW if your child is in the correct age bracket. Applications close this month.
EANI website will give all the information
