Hey all I'm not sure where to post this I'm looking for further advice or any reassurance! My son is 3.6 he goes to forest school nursery twice a week (30 hours funded) adores forest school and the rest of the week we have a very good group of friends he sees almost daily - who hes known since he went to baby play at six weeks old. We often go on holiday and meet up at the weekend - he loves playing and interacting- making up stories together and role playing. all of his friends are born pre September and go to school nursery am (various schools) in September they'll start reception and weve chosen to keep ds in forest school two days a week until he is due to start reception the following year. He loves being outdoors! My worry is as of September hell find the days without his group of friends hard he already finds the local toddler groups babyish, most of the local groups are aimed at the under 3s and I'm not sure where we go from here really. Has anyone else been in the same situation?

My daughter was 5 when she started school, she was a bit sad when some moved in but honestly kids are fickle, she soon forgot and made new friends. It won’t matter what decision you make, it will honestly all be fine.

Maybe a bit late to be looking at it now but can he start at a preschool, perhaps one that feeds into the school he'll be going to? He'll easily make new friends. You'll be able to split your funded hours as you can't be using all 30 on two days of forest school.

He obviously can still see his old friends at weekends, after school, on holiday, and when he goes to school. But nice to make new friends too.

Why not start him at a Nursery school or Pre-school in a Nursery ?

My dc3 was the same - all her "peers" from playgroup started school and she had another year. Like Georgie said, at that age they just play with whoever is near them They won't mind it is a new set of friends.
