My DS (3.5) has started pre-reception and they are doing a sound a week. He's always happy to sit down and do activity books and is enjoying learning the sounds every week. Any recommendations for good books/ apps/ websites/ printouts for phonics?

I bought an Usborne phonics book but there is only a spread per sound which seems a little pointless. Ideally would like something with lots of exercises per sound. He remembers all the sounds but I'm not sure if he is getting the 'depth' of understanding in differentiating between words.

I am an Early Years Practitioner and primary teacher. Sometimes children are taught the sounds in isolation and this can be confusing. So I tend to teach the children to segment and blend at the same time. Word building is so important . I would recommend that you check out the following YouTube channel I always recommend it to my parents so they can learn to use the correct sounds which will help their child even more. Work books have their place but I would say be practical and anything using technology children love!
