Hi all, my son is in reception,
He's in the level 1+ pink oxford trading tree books and they are easy for him. What level is everyone else's children on in reception? I'm worried they aren't challenging him. He didn't have a new reading book for 4 weeks over the Christmas period.
Would just like to get an idea if other children his age before I approach the subject with him teacher tomorrow.

Thanks !

You might get more answers if you put this in the primary education section. Most of the people who look here have 3 / 4 year olds.

Don't worry about what other children are on - it's irrelevant. Just write a note/email to the teacher and ask him or her to assess His reading so he can bring back appropriate books.

I agree with early if you think the books are too easy then ask the teacher to swap. I had to do this with my reception age dd too and it wasn’t a problem.

I am wanting to compare as I don't think DS is being challenged at all.
I'll mention it tomorrow at school
Thanks!
