Hi all, I'm majorly confused and would appreciate any one who can help explain nursery intakes to me!

So i have twin boys born October 2014.

  1. when would they start nursery?
  2. are there set intakes during the year for each nursery?

Thanks

They will be eligible for their free hours (15 or 30, depending on your situation) in January as that is the term following their 3rd birthday. However they could start at any time if you wish to pay for it. Hope that helps!

Preschool nursery attached to a school generally only have one intake-September. It's the school year before they're due to start reception. So it's Sept 2018 for your dcs, if they are due to start school in sept 2019.

Private nurseries are different but I have no idea how to answer your post in relation to a preovaye nursery, sorry.

My son was born September 2014. He is starting at a school preschool class in September but we have to pay until January when his free hours kick in. At the school we chose he will do a year in that class then a year in a Nursery class. The difference is that Nursery is teacher-led and they go every morning or every afternoon, whereas the preschool has no teacher and you can do whatever hours you want. We looked at 3 different schools and they all had different arrangements so there is no standard answer.
