Dd is 3 and we have just had our 1st term review at nursery. Teacher is overall happy with her development but said her concentration is low and she isnt forming some sounds correctly making her speech a little slushy. To help with this and prevent it being a problem the teacher wants her to do blast session for a term. Anyone able to tell me more about it. Google isn't telling me much.

I'm afraid I've never heard the term.
Did you not ask her at the time, what she meant ?

Is it an anacronym for b(?) language and speech therapy?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/03/2015 23:43

A quick Google threw up this, BLAST in nurseries.

It's the type of things they do in it so I can continue with them at home. Hell, thank you

There's a tab on that site that is for parents with suggestions for home. I hope it really helps her Smile

I've never heard if this but reading the website it does sound like it would be beneficial
I'm going to investigate more

We do this in my school for nursery pupils to aid language and communication skills. It is a 6 week programme of group sessions devised by speech and language therapists. It's a good idea if there are some concerns, we also put in children with no concerns too to get a good mix in the groups. I think it's beneficial for all children

I used to use this in a nursery I worked in and it is great.
You really saw an improvement in the children over the 6 weeks.
It is fun for them and nothing to do with speech and language therapy
