Opinions please. Pre-school.

I work 3 days a week. DD goes to nursery 2.5 days a week as DH has her half a day a week.

DD loves nursery and I'm very happy with it. She will start at the village school Sept 2016 when she will be nearly 5.

AIBU to keep her with me / DH 2.5 days per week. A number of friends think she should go to the village pre-school on the days I am at home from September.

I think she enjoys the balance she has. I enjoy having her with me as does 10 month old DS. We do gymnastics and a sports class on my days off as well as seeing our friends.

I would be interested in hearing opinions on whether she would benefit from going to the pre-school a few afternoons a week from September on the days I don't work so she makes friends with children who will be in her class.

For info I know there is at least one girl in her current nursery class who will go to school with her.

Sorry, reading that back it is badly expressed. I know it is ultimately up to DH and I but I'm wondering if I'm doing DD a disservice keeping her home.

No, there is no need for her to go to the local preschool and I say that as a manager of a local preschool
She will already be being prepared for starting school by the nursery.
I would just enjoy being with her before she starts school

People I talk to seem to either think I'm being a bit selfish or are disbelieving that I don't want a couple of hours peace!

I like having my kids with me too, I have had friends look at me strange because I said I can't wait for the summer holidays lol. I think your children are very lucky they have a mum who wants to spend time with them, some mothers (not saying its wrong) like time away and just do not understand why other mothers don't. spend all the time you want with her, shell be at school soon and you will miss her. my baby is starting nursery in a week and I'm sad but excited for him at the same time. x

I think sometimes people need you to do what they did in order to validate their own choices, especially if they are feeling a bit insecure about them.

Your dd is getting all the preparation she needs from her current nursery. Enjoy the rest of the time you have together to do other things.
