What do you pay for nursery?

I currently pay around £32 per day for DS's nursery. We get a discount for paying fees in advance and I get a discount from my employer too.
I went to look round the pre school on the grounds of the primary school he will probably go to. It's lovely and very convenient and I want to send him there when he turns 3 but it's £47 per day and they don't do any discounts. Is this unusually expensive? I was wondering if this seems unreasonable to other people, especially in NW England?

I paid £56 per day in Home Counties last year - won't your free 15 hours cover some of the difference?

Maybe not unusually expensive then and we have been getting off easy with childcare costs in current nursery?
He'll have to do an extra day when he moves to preschool so we'll be paying over £100 more even with free hours.

£46 per day for our nursery, rising to £48 from September. No food included or nappies etc. We are south coast, it's the higher end of average around here. Childminders are far cheaper locally, I think my friend pays £3.75 per hour for hers.

South Manchester is £40 - 65 a day for private nursery. Our school nursery is £35 for the full extended day 8-6 but that is very cheap and you provide packed lunch

About £50 per day in Edinburgh. Childminders charge an average of £5.50 an hour, plus extra for food, so it's not a cheaper option.

Our nursery charge £36 for a full day. If you want a school lunch them its an extra £2.20 a day
We do offer a discount on a full time place and we also offer termtime places plus children are able to attend for just the free 15 hours so some parents pay nothing

£38.50/day (not includimg nappies, wipes or formua), S/W Yorkshire borders. Pretty average, although there are a couple of nurseries locally that charge £50/day (including nappies, wipes, formula)

Both current and future nurseries are inclusive of everything. Seems like £47 per day is low end of average for our area and £32 is really cheap.

I'm in North Yorkshire and pay £45 a day, 51 weeks of the year which works out to approx £200 a month per day attended weekly. So DD goes two days a week which is £400 a month. It will go down quite considerably when she gets her free hours in January, to about £220 a month.

£54/ day oxfordshire inc food (2 proper meals) nappies, suncream. This is for a good place.

Oh, i should add that nursery is open long hours 7-6.30

£40/day, NW England, 8am-6pm.

Newcastle. £48 a day. Everything included, even sun cream. Still feels really expensive but it's a national chain and they're brilliant with ds, he loves it.

£25 for a 10 hour day in a brilliant nursery, but we live in the People's Socialist Republic of Glasgow.

£57 a day in south Manchester. With 2 it's crippling and if it wasn't for my dear old mum helping out I'd be paying to go to work!

Maggie that's why everyone I know switched to school nursery and wrap around as soon as possible we have no family near by and I worked for free in effect for a year with two !!!

Hmm I'm rethinking if I should actually move DS now as seems like £32 is such good value compared to everywhere else. It's a really lovely nursery too. Just not very close to our house and DS future primary school.

I'm in London and it's £62/day now for a 2 yo - as I use 3 days this means the costs halve when dd's 15 free hours kick in. Includes all meals but not nappies.

Nurseries here are £52 per day. I pay for a preschool £27.75 per day including 45 min early drop off and an hour lunch hour where they bring packed lunch so 8.15-4pm. East Midlands.

Also £57 in South Manchester. Wondering if it might be the same at maggiemagpie's!

On top of that though we pay an extra £1 per baby for early drop off at 7.30, and then it's 8 to 6, and includes nappies, suncream, formula etc.
