Nursery in a school - How does it work?

Hi, Im a bit unsure where to post this. However, a local school to us takes children for nursery from 3yrs. Mornings and afternoons and it appears they (mostly) return home for lunch. Does anyone know though if this means that its a privately or Gov paid for nursery place? Does it use the 15hrs of teaching grant thing the Gov does and the parents then pay for the rest of the time spent there? Or if the Gov pay full time? (I kind of thought education started at 4 or 5 so Im finding it hard to understand this one) It certainly reads as if its a full time almost school like thing, but doesn't really answer more.

Ill phone them too when term starts, just wondered if others had experience/knowledge. Or if its a school to school thing?

DD is in a private nursery so I mightnt choose the school if Im swopping effectively like for like and paying for it. If its Gov then I would give it more consideration I just cant work it out!

DS primary school has a nursery. In our case your child would attend the Sept after turning 3 (they also do Jan intake for older children). You choose to attend either morning or afternoon session. Ours also offers lunch in the canteen.
This is the Gov funded place & is free.

Sorry, just reread your message. It would not be possible to pay for child to stay for whole day. It's not a paid nursery in that sense, its very much part of the school. Its very much structured play.
DS adored it.
Because DS has a Sept birthday we applied for a place in the January after he turned 3 so in effect spent a year & a 1/2 at the Nursery.

I work in a nursery that is in the grounds of a primary school. The nursery is privately owned as are all the nursery schools and pre-schools in school grounds in our area.
We take children from 2 years and can offer a wide range of attending options.
Parents can choose to send their child for just the 15 hours free entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds and the 2 year olds that are entitled too. They can also stay longer and pay for either mornings , afternoons or all day care.
School Lunches can be taken in the school or they can bring a packed lunch and eat it in the nursery. None of the children go home and come back again.
Although we are not run by the school, we take part in many of their activities and use some of their facilities.
If you are unsure of the set-up at the local nursery just phone up and ask, they really won't mind.

Ah! I see. So it really could be part of the school set up. Or by using half days all week that's ur 15. Ok well that might work out. Could be much more useful to enable a return to work...
