Educational internet apps

My DD (2) has begun to really enjoy songs and stories on the internet, mainly we use YouTube material. But this is starting to feel limiting and frustrating because of the low quality graphics on a lot of the videos and the constant pop-up advertising that gets in the way. So I?ve begun to search alternatives.

While sitting in a busy doctor?s waiting room the other day I saw a toddler watching something on his mum?s iphone and my daughter was attracted to it straight away (she loves all mobiles and gadgets!) ? turned out to be an app that you download and gives you beautifully animated interactive stories. I was impressed and downloaded it myself from itunes itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-hare-and-the-tortoise-lite/id512167553?ls=1&mt=8

My daughter absolutely loves it and it?s come in very useful whenever she needs to be kept entertained and busy! Has anyone found good stuff like this that is both entertaining and educational?

My son devours apps. They're great at getting him interacting with content and I much prefer it to tv. I strongly recommend tozzle (shape sorting) Montessori numbers lite and Simon says. We also have a lot of games that he loves to play and they're all teaching him something (like cause and effect, puzzles, counting etc)
