How Much Uniform?!

My son has just been accepted into our local playgroup starting in September (in Northern Ireland, so there's an application process).

Anyway, I need to order him uniforms, which is polos, sweatshirts and 'jogging trousers'.

How many do I order of each for 5 days a week 2.5 hours a day?!?!

2 polos, two jogging bottoms and one sweatshirt. Should give you enough washing time. I'm glad ours just go in normal clothes.

Thanks! I was thinking maybe 2 of each. Do you really think 1 trouser is enough, really?

Next problem is that the order form only lists trousers in size 2-3, which he grew out of months ago being Mr Long Legs. Now I have to ring the school!

Will he won't wear it every day?....if he will then two I guess. DS doesn't wear a school jumper every day even in winter as class is warm.

Tee2072 · 02/04/2012 16:46

I don't know if he will or not. We've only ever been there in the middle of winter and all the children had their jumpers on. Not sure if they are even allowed to remove them as I think the polos are just plain white, with no school logo.

Two of each - three if you dont have a dryer.

Is it an easily available colour?

If so, buy some normal uniform, but for things like the trousers and polos I would try and buy from somewhere else

MerryMarigold · 02/04/2012 16:53

I get 3 of each for my kids, but they are messy kids and wear cheap uniforms!

Itsjustafleshwound · 02/04/2012 16:56

In answer to your question, It all depends on what sort of child he is and how willing you are to do the washing/drying

I would have at least 3 of each thing as they will be going on 5 different days. Sometimes my DS can wear a polo shirt more than once if it is under a jumper and vice verse if he takes his jumper off early in the day.

Like the others say, it depends on what washing etc you want to do and whether they need ironing etc. I have enough sets of uniform for each day for both DSs as I like to do all the washing of uniforms at the end of the week as I work (most of it doesn't need ironing as all tshirt material). I am dreading next year as they move to independant school and it is proper (white) shirts etc so lots of washing and ironing - aaargh!

Another thing is whether they are happy for your DS to wear normal clothes if for some reason you run out of clean stuff. If thats the case it won't matter too much.
