I don't think you get scales or whatever they are called til the end of Reception

if your child attends a preschool/nursery/childminder they will be able to show you the learning journal or record of achievements (ought to show you this regularly anyway)

England or Wales? I can tell you for Wales but we have different scales...
We only have 7 levels (England have 9). Expected to be at 7 at age 7 ie end yr 2, 6 at age 6 ie end year 1, 5 at age 5 ie end reception, 4 at age 4 ie end nursery. Much easier!! I don't think our nurseries give a formal level but when they are assessed entering reception in September they are expected at that point to be level 4.

I think they enter eyfs on three and exit on six?

mrz · 31/03/2012 13:39

They enter EYFS at birth and exit at the end of reception year but we have a new curriculum from September with new assessments

I was told at parents eve (for DD in nursery attached to the school) that they should finish on a point 6.

ash979 · 18/04/2012 12:16

Point 6 is very high for a nursery child. They shouldnt really be assessed on the EYFS Profile till the end of reception. 6 is average for the end of reception!

Ash979 - thats what I meant sorry Blush Point 3 of end of nursery or going into reception and point 6 at end...

simpson · 18/04/2012 15:44

the end
