i just got a new aupair for my 3 year old who started in december and at the same time she moved up into the 3-5yr old class in the local childrens centre 5 half days a week. We have noticed that she is a lot more quiet and less confident than she has been and the new classes are much larger 32 kids!!!! but they said the ratios are fine.
the new aupair seems ok but she was really attached to our previous one and I'm not sure whether the problem is the new aupair or the new class in nursery as everyone has noticed she is much quieter is it normal for 3 yr olds to calm down and be quieter than 2 yr olds should i change the nursery or aupair any advice pls

Can she articulate what's wrong? How much time does the AP spend with her? What's the AP's English like? Is the AP naturally calmer and less exuberant and therefore less likely to encourage chattering and outgoing behaviour?

Perhaps she's finding her feet in the new class or she might be missing her old friends?

Those are 2 quite big changes so it may be that she's feeling a little subdued until she adjusts.
