WWYD, really stuck?

OK, I live in a small market town, which has 2 pre-schools. Pre-school a), lets call in Rainbows is fantastic, I got a great feeling there, love their ethos, really thought my DS would thrive there. Pre-school b), lets call it Sunshine, also has a great local rep, is the one all my mum mates use, is brand new and has an outstanding OFSTED, but I did not get such a good feeling from it. And they have 2 computers, for the kids to use, which I dislike as there is not always an adult to supervise the computers, and I am not sure how much a 2/3 year old is getting out of clicking away in silence.

So I prefer Rainbows, but they have no space, and won't until Sept 2012. Sunshine has a bit better availability, so i panic booked him in. I have a new born, and a 3 year old who needs the stimulation and structure of a setting and he is leaving his child minders in January. So do I just go with Sunshine with my reservations, or should I keep him home, and wait for the place I really like?

I could drive to the next village to the pre-school my friends girl goes, which is lovely, but it is down the country lanes and I really don't want to drive in the winter, early mornings, when there is a perfectly good pre-school in spitting distance.

So, if you were me, WWYD?

Sorry, long and tedious post. It is stressing me out.

I would go with sunshine, but keep him on the list for rainbows, them you can decide whether or not to move him when ther place comes up at rainbows.

OK - I think you should definitely take the place at Sunshine and see how it goes. You will get time alone with your newborn and your DS will be presumably with some people he knows - the DC of your Mum mates.

But stay on the waiting list for Rainbows and then you have the choice of moving him later if you want to.

Re the computers - they are meant to have these as part of EYFS! The games will all be age appropriate etc and everyone can take a turn so it's unlikely that they would let your DC be on the computer the whole time without encouraging them to join another activity.

See this website about IT in the early years.

You will probably find that Rainbows will get a computer eventually too.

Send him to Sunshine and keep your options open with Rainbows for September? 9 months is blinking long time!

forkful thanks for the link, will take look.

Will do as you all say, book him into sunshine, and see if rainbows comes up.
