I will have to start looking soon for a place for my daughter for nursery very soon. I dont know if what I am looking for is available but Ive seen 3 childrens centres and the kids are playing all day. I know they learn by playing but they dont sit down and teach them to read or count do they learn this before starting school at nurseries .If so how do I go about finding a suitable nursery with so many to choose. Im lost and dont want to make a mistake by choosing a rubbish one.

Do an internet search for OFSTED, get to the bits where you can search local schools/nurseries, and in the search box type in your town/area, then review the reports and note down the scores.

At least this way you can eliminate all the nurseries you don't want your daughter to go to.

Also, you could ask to go and have a look at a couple to get a feel for it.

One other thing to consider if whether you'd prefer a nursery attached to a primary school or a separate nursery.
