Preschool fees question

Hi

I am on the Committee of our local preschool, and we are just looking at fees/wages at the moment.

I would really appreciate finding out what you pay per hour or session, if you have a moment to reply!

Also, if you are on the Committee, what do you pay your staff?

Thanks very much.

£3 per hour, same rate to stay for an hour lunch club.

SachaF · 09/05/2011 22:30

£9.50 I think for 2.5 hour session. Half that for 1.25 hr lunch club (we provide packed lunces)

£12 for 3 hour session

We've just put fees up to £3.50 an hour, so a three hour session is now £10.50. Lunch club is £2 for half an hour (parents provide lunches), or you can have that as part of the 15 hour entitlement.

In September, ours are going up to £4.50 per hour - lunch club the same and parents provide lunches. But most people take their 15 free hours only, so it only a small minority who pay anything. In our area, that is pretty low compared to other preschools and day nurseries.

Staff pay ranges from embarassingly low to actually pretty good for the sector (but still relatively low for a skilled and important job).

Sorry, went to bed and not managed to check back until now.

Thanks very much for your answers - camdancer, I agree with you - we pay average wages for the area/sector, but they are disgraceful really for what the staff do, particularly the supervisor.

At our local preschool a 2.5 hour session is £6.75 and lunch is £3.00 if you provide packed lunch, or you can pay an extra £1.45 and have a hot lunch brought from the adjacent school. Lunch can be taken within your 15 hours.

mnistooaddictive · 11/05/2011 08:27

We pay £3.75 an hour but this leaves us with a shortfall if about £1500 a year which we cover with fundraising.

The children all bring a piece of fruit which us cut up and shared out for snack so we don't have to buy food for this. If they do lunchclub they bring their own lunchbox.
This is in Wiltshire
