What's normal

What attitude does your preschool take to boys fighting? My twin boys aged nearly four have just started a new preschool where the attitude is completely different to their old one. Everyday there seems to be a fight and of course my boys are starting to fight back with words and now some pushing I think today. Last week I tried to talk to the teacher when one of my boys got scratched and the other was frankly terrified as a boy apparantly tried to kick his head then with a friend cornered him and told him he had to agree to kill his friends before they would let him go. Her attitude was that it is normal rough and tumble and that the scratch wasn't malicious. Today the boys told me the teacher has told them it's ok to pretend to hit and that they should do that if someone corners them. They also told me that they pushed over a boy - but the school didn't tell me.

I'm quite surprised - I don't want them to learn that they have to fight to survive in the playground. They are only three years old!

All schools and preschools my dcs have attended have been very strict on fighting. And also good at teaching better ways of negotiating.
