Nursery Application Form

I have just received a few forms back from various schools with nurseries attached and have been told there are long waiting lists for all. Anyway, there is a question at the bottom asking if there are any special factors that affect your child's needs for a nursery place. It says that you don't have to complete this but it may help your child to obtain a place. My main need for a nursery space is we both work fulltime and are struggling with childcare costs but is this the sort of thing they are looking for?
I would love to hear anyones views on this

I think they are really after special specific circumstances such as siblings in adjacent school, Special Needs which that setting can meet better than another etc Many school nurseries have shorter hours to private ones, are less flexible and adhere more striclty to offering the basic 5 session per week - usualy am or pm - termtime. Will that really be what you require ? If your child is turning 3 he/she can often claim the Early Years funding even for a private nursery or chidminder.

Thanks LIZS, I have just realised after much reading on the internet that all funded providers including private, independent etc have to offer 15 hours a week. I thought that the government funded a certain amount and parents would have to pay the difference which is sometimes referred to as top up fees'. As this is not the case, I will revert to a private nursery as there is a lot more availability in the ones in my area. It really amazes me how this is such a grey area' and you really have to do your homework to see what you are entitled to. If this is just the beginning of our education experience, I am not relishing the next 18 years!!
