Pre-school Committee help, anyone?

Hi, I'd be really grateful if anyone could offer any advice to a very new and anxious chair of a pre-school committee. The role was kind of handed to me last week, but I really don't have much of an idea so far of what it will entail. I've got lots of paperwork from the few previous years, including staff appraisals, job applications, etc, but nowhere does there seem to be a description of exactly what I'm meant to be doing. If anyone had any advice, either on the chair's role itself, or sources of information, I'd really appreciate it. I think if I could talk to another chair about what they do, it might put my mind at rest a bit. I've already thought of emigrating so please don't suggest that! I'm in Scotland, so I don't know if the structure is the same as in other parts of the UK, but really any info would be great.

Do you have the Pre school Learning Alliance in Scotland?
They used ot have good role descriptions on their website.
Do you have an Operational Plan for your preschool? That should include a description.
Do you follow the EYFS? Again, that may have some info.

If it is the same as in England, you are kind of the name over the door, the responsible person, though the playleader has day ot day responsibility. Does that make sense?
So you nee dot ensure that the playleader is running the preschool properly.

Again, it may be different in Scotland - in England we have Early Years team at county level who can meet with you to ensure everything is correct.
