Preparing for power cuts or rationing this winter

I'm not really a prepper, but it has struck me that we need to be ready for power outages or rationing this winter, so I'd really appreciate your advice and experience.

We have a wood burner on which, at a pinch we can cook food and make coffee, so we have a double load of wood coming in a fortnight's time

Other than that we have or are getting:

  • extra gas for the camping stove (10 canisters)
  • three rechargeable lanterns
  • an Oodie for my daughter's birthday.

We have quite a few small power banks but I am wondering about a larger one too. We will keep all of them, and our kindles, charged regularly.

What have I missed?

I'm lucky in that I have one of those green eggs
What is this, please?

Outdoor lights indoors!

Yeah typical me but they seem to work quite well though I have noticed the battery does not hold a lot of power so the lights stay on for only a few hours each evening but they are quite cosy. Some lights uncrew so they can be tilted in the direction of the sun, these are better.

Lights stay on longer on sunnier days than dull days but despite this I think they are great.

What I like the most is they are costing me nothing to run! Hahah so poootin can shove that up his pipeline and smoke it🤣

The fluff from the tumble dryer filter is fantastic for starting fires 🙂

Yes I kept ours. Once I have enough I stuff a toilet roll tube with it and wrap it in waste paper like a cracker. Great firestarter for free

I keep the fluffy dander from when I've groomed our ragdoll cat. (Get huge handfuls) and also stuff into a loo roll / kitchen roll tube.

Although I'm so thinking of keeping it to try felting.
