Beginner here - does this sound like a reasonable stockpile?

I've always liked to have a fair bit extra in, but thanks to MN I decided to get really organised and ensure I'm covered for (hopefully) every eventuality. It's actually really helped my anxiety as I feel a bit more in control.

Just wondered if anyone could take a look and see if this sounds reasonable prep wise, basically just got extra of what we normally eat in (for three of us) - feel like I'm missing obvious things!

Cupboard Stuff
Red/Green Pesto: 10 jars
Beans/Spaghetti hoops: 10 tins
Pasta Sauce: 10 jars
Curry Paste: 5 jars
Veg - peas/new potatoes/carrots/spinach - 5 tins each
Black Beans - 5 cans
Butter Beans - 5 cans
Broad Beans - 5 cans
Mixed Beans - 5 cans
Kidney Beans - 4 cans
Ravioli - 5 cans
Soups - mixed - 10 cans
Rice - 1kg + a selection of microwavable packs
Couscous - mixed selection of individual packs
Lentils - 1kg
Quinoa - 500g
Pasta - 1kg
Spaghetti - five packs
Passata - 8 cartons
Chopped Tomatoes - 10 cans
Tomato Puree - 3 tubes
Tuna - 10 cans
Peas - 4 cans
Corned beef - 2 cans
Sardines in sauce - 5 packs
Mackerel - 5 packs
Stewing steak - 3 tins
Jumbo Oats
Weetabix
Muesli
2 litre bottles water - 5
2kg coffee beans
Tea bags - mix
Hot Chocolate - big tub of powdered
Long life milk (currently 4 cartons will probably pick up more)
Tortillas - 2 packs
Mix of herbs and marinades/rubs
Slow cooker sauce packs
Mixed nuts
Nut Butters/Nutella/Marmite/Marmalade and Honey

Frozen
Avocado
Onions
Peppers (mixed)
Cabbage
Spinach
Herbs
Peas/sweetcorn
Carrots
Broc + cauli
Meat - assorted
Fish fillets
Fish Fingers [ who doesn't love a fish finger sandwich?!]
ice cream
Bread
Just Rol Pastry - two packs

Household
Candles (two bags tealights plus various)
Solar lamp + charger
three 6 litre collapsable water containers [empty but ready to go]
Torches x 2
Toilet Rolls (50)
Mouthwash & toothpaste [bulk packs of each]
Batteries
Full first aid kit including bandages, plasters, wound wipes, antiseptic cream, cold + flu tablets and sachets, digestion aids and medicines, paracetamol and ibuprofen, migraine tablets, allergy tablets

Plan to get
Camping stove/hob [we have regular power outages - not sure they'd be ideal for inside though?]
Life straws x 3
Couple more torches
Baby wipes
Soap
Laundry Powder
Energy Bars [less about prepping, more about DH loving them for walking holidays but handy none the less]

Now I've written it all down, I probably sound a bit OTT? But the snow last year really made me see I needed more in, especially if we get hit with a power cut around the same time [I know I can't 100% rely on my freezer stores but I like to have it stocked incase we get ill/can't get out for a few days or i'm too lazy to think about what to eat!]
Do you think I've missed anything obvious?

Not quite sure why you decided to come on over to the prepper topic then Rhythm.

I've explained my reasoning in my previous posts - not sure what there is not to understand?

Then leave the threads then Confused

What is it with arseholes on Mumsnet lately?

NerrSnerr · 31/07/2018 17:18

@bellinisurge I didn't use the term 'remoaner'. I am a remain supporter so why would I? The latest influx of prepping threads are because of Brexit, one look at the preppers topic clearly shows that. My issue is that some people are clearly doing it as a hobby with some humour which is fine but it is obviously causing other people real worry and anxiety that there will be some huge apocalyptic event.

bellinisurge · 31/07/2018 17:18

Let's assume that the activity on this thread came up and @RhythmStix assumed it was a conversation about Brexit.
It isn't.

TrippingTheVelvet · 31/07/2018 17:19

That answer makes sense! Thanks!

mmmgoats · 31/07/2018 17:19

@nerrsnerr agreed about the anxiety, but I find prepping for all events personally for me relieves my anxiety :)
I wouldn't want to cause anyone undue worry, but at the same time, don't want to not post about something I quite enjoy and see as being organised just because it might upset someone.
If we did that, there'd be no threads left on MN - especially in AIBU Grin

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 31/07/2018 17:21

@NerrSnerr - this topic has been here for ages. Just as Camping or Home Education or whatever niche area has been a topic for ages.
If you ask a question on it, it's kind of assumed you've made a decision to get more into it.
It's not about preaching.
FWIW, I've posted on a lot of threads about Brexit and told people as politely as I can to calm the fuck down.

NerrSnerr · 31/07/2018 17:21

@mmmgoats true. I will leave the preppers to the threads. I have been unfair really as this isn't as scary mongering as some of the prepping threads I have seen, it just happened to be the one I was on today.

NerrSnerr · 31/07/2018 17:24

@bellinisurge I know it's been here a while, I just meant it's had an upsurge of threads since the whole Brexit prepping thing. Anyway, each to their own. Hopefully not too many mumsnetters are worrying about how to make their paycheque spread to extras when reading these threads. That was my concern.

Caribbeanyesplease · 31/07/2018 17:25

RhythmStix’s point is ludicrous

I remember her on a Boden thread.

So I ask you... why spend your money on Boden why you could buy from a charity shop and the money you save you donate to a homeless charity.

It’s ridiculous. Your point is ridiculous. Prepping does not mean that you then don’t donate to charity. Likewise, buying from Boden does not mean that you then don’t donate to charity.

petrolpump28 · 31/07/2018 17:26

Oh gosh I just don't know where to start. I think we have an old camping stove somewhere.

mmmgoats · 31/07/2018 17:31

@nerrsnerr it's a fair point - I think the surge is natural after recent articles and I too hope it doesn't create worry and panic for people who don't have the space or income to prepare if they feel like they need to. But our very own @bellinisurge has been popping her head into Brexit prep panic threads and giving very level headed panic free advice, so not all preppers are getting whipped up into a state of frenzy. :)

But prepping by nature is very divisive I think. You either have that way of thinking or you don't - just like some people iron their pants which I will never understand Grin horses for courses I s'pose!

@caribbeanyesplease I once got chided by another poster for posting about ordering a takeaway. Apparently that made me a vile, self-indulgent consumer who was practically ripping food out of homeless peoples' hands. All because I fancied crispy shredded beef one night after a particularly bad week!

OP posts:
Caribbeanyesplease · 31/07/2018 17:37

I once got “shouted” at because I should be over the moon with my maintenance arrangement and that I had “more than enough to live on”.

Zero grasp some mumsnetters

mmmgoats · 31/07/2018 17:38

@carribeanyesplease rude of you obviously. Self-indulgent. Grin

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 31/07/2018 17:39

Mmmmm crispy shredded beef Wink

Whatthefoxgoingon · 31/07/2018 17:39

It’s very tedious when people who have no interest in prepping come to the prepping board to take a pop at us. Why would any decent person do that? Does it make them feel superior? Hmm

Anyhow....I really fancy a Kelly kettle for camping....

mmmgoats · 31/07/2018 17:40

@bellinisurge I did accidentally derail my own thread haha. And now I too want crispy shredded beef. If only there was a way to incorporate this into my prep stores!!

OP posts:
confusedmummy76 · 31/07/2018 17:52

I must the why post. Zombie apocalypse ?

bellinisurge · 31/07/2018 18:02

See now @mmmgoats , I'm thinking about marinating beef, shredding it and dehydrating it, maybe some dehydrated kale from the garden , a bottle of soy sauce, some rice ......
Ok, I digress. A lot Grin

bellinisurge · 31/07/2018 18:16

@confusedmummy76 - unclear (and possibly confused Grin). Are you asking why prep? Or why ask?

confusedmummy76 · 31/07/2018 18:23

Yeah wondering why peep. Sorry my other message got auto changed with this phone

RhythmStix · 31/07/2018 18:26

"You ate not a prepper".

Very true caribbean: I have never eaten a prepper nor any other human being. Having read 'The Road' and other dystopian literature however, I can say with confidence that ,post Armageddon, all preppers and non preppers alike will be fair game once the tinned stuff runs outGrin

bellinisurge · 31/07/2018 18:32

Well @confusedmummy76 . Everyone is different. I've trotted out my reasons on AMA. But here they are again...
I had a terrible maternity experience and discovered the hard way that no help was available . Once I recovered, I started thinking about resilience. Simple stuff like enough food if I couldn't get to the shops.
I have MS - planning is what I have to do for me and my family in case I'm not in a position to look after us.
We get snowed in a lot despite living in suburban Manchester. It was extra fun when dd was a newborn.
We also get power outs a lot.
For non emergency but the usual daft reasons , our freezer has gone down 3 times - three different freezers! Sod's law applied in all 3 cases.
My late mum's town had contaminated water and we had to get water bottles in for her. This was fun when I had to take her to A&E - they only had emergency bottles too. This was 21st Century UK.
Everyone has their story and their reasons and their experiences.
I don't believe in zombies. I do believe in planning for likely problems or relatively likely problems.

mmmgoats · 31/07/2018 18:33

You might be a bit too gristly for my liking without any stores @RhythmStix
the downside is us preppers are going to be nice and fat and juicy, I s'pose. Grin
