I'm with summer... what's going on?? There have been a few threads about a nuclear attack today?

I think these threads have appeared because Trump has dropped the US's largest non nuclear bomb on ISIS in Afghanistan. Things seem to be escalating so people are naturally concerned as to where it could be heading.

I'm near a marine base so I'm fucked.

North Korea aren't a threat to us, though.
If Trump or Kim Jong Un did something really stupid, the ones affected would be North Korea, South Korea, Japan. We would be safe in Europe and the US.
It would still be absolutely horrendous for that many people to be so horribly killed, and the global political consequences would be huge.

I meant that even though N Korea have nuclear weapons, they don't have the means to reach us. China and Russia do, but I think they are both sane enough not to retaliate if N Korea was hit.

Not that I'd like to see it put the test, mind!

As I understand it the reason Trump is so excited is because of threats from North Korea to their territories / alies with the continued Nuclear testing. NK are also testing longer range weapons.

I believe that if either the US or Kim Jong Un make a wrong move now then this could escalate very rapidly. A scary thought given their respective personalities.

China, Russia and Nato won't sit by and let NK fire Nuclear weapons in anger. We will have WW3 in minutes / hours and I don't think the majority, if any of us, will survive.

It will likely be a 'rust inhibitor' then. Still nasty but a different beast.

We're about 8,000km away from NK in Britain. We don't know for sure what maximum distance they could reach, nor how accurate their systems are but even if they could reach us (and I think that's unlikely) we would be looking at a nuclear disaster, not an apocalypse. That would be worth surviving. If things escalated to the point that Russia or China were in nuclear conflict with NATO, then we really would be toast.

What happens to our children if they are in school during a strike?

I worry about them being away from me at such a frightening time.
