Hi all,

I want to be a prepper. I think I might sort of already be one because DH and I have always had an eye on the place we live being potentially self sufficient. But where do I start?

DH not so into prepping as me. So I will have to be a bit subtle.

I work FT. 3 kids under 7. 10 acres of land, including a currently unproductive veg parch. Prob £100 per month to spend on prepping.

Yh tbh just living where you do.is a big step as is knowing your neighbours and having bartably skills/stuff.
I think when you live as we do the bigger things are thinking about job loss, depression etc because snowed in, fuel issues are easily dealt with compared to someone in the city.

Sorry I'm learning a mew language and seem to be mixing things up!

Skills / stuff you can barter with

GreenWalls · 07/11/2015 20:50

Perfect, do you want to move here my OH use to be a snipper,hunts and grew up farming but I cant knit, sew or bf (hormone problem) you and my OH would make a formidable pair;

GreenWalls · 07/11/2015 21:29

I think both my DH and your OH might be a bit upset about that idea! Also not sure the crochet would be of any use at all - there are only so many scarves that a family can use!

Not sure how much longer the bf will last either - now DS has a lot of teeth and he likes to use them on me. Having some UHT milk in stock is a good idea.

GreenWalls · 07/11/2015 21:44

Crochet is very useful. We could crochet fishing nets, and all sorts of useful stuff.

Have you tried looking back through the old land deeds for the well, they're often marked on them.
