I'm 37 weeks pregnant on Friday. I'm getting taken into hospital at 8am Friday morning for induction as i have Cholostatis (a liver disorder). I'm so so scared as Iv'e been warned that theres a higher chance of stillbirth, I really don;t know what I'd do if that happened, I have bonded with baby so much and can't really get excited for her birth because I'm scared of what might happen!

no experience of your condition but when I was in having dd1 there was a woman with same who had induction followed by lovely healthy baby.

Good luck -looking forward to hearing happy news

Hi mum I've had OC 3 times and twice was induced, 3rd time dd arrived just before 37 wks on her own.

If it's any consolation, in all the experineces of Oc that I know, (,yself, 2 friends and 2 clients) induction was fairly strightforward.

Please try not to worry about stillbirth, it's very rare and even the medics are out on the jury as to whether there is significant evidence these days to even suggest this is any higher in OC cases. If you are stressed then induction can sometimes be inhibited.

Good luck, take something to read for the early stages.

Thanks girlsyearapart and liahgen both have really helped! I'd rather go into labour before Friday but I very much doubt its going to happen, so looks like induction on Friday it is.

How long did it take for you the twice you were induced liahgen??

I really hope our babas going to be ok, it's just really frightening.

Don't be scared!! Close friend of mine has a gorgeous, healthy 8 week old daughter and she was an induction at 38 weeks because of this condition. Her DC was born fine and has a fab pair of lungs!! She was induced at 8am, had to have her waters broken at 7pm because there wasn't much happening and she was born just after 11pm. Friend said that it was more borning and tiring than anything between 8am and 7pm, she knew daughter was on her way and just wanted her here!! Friend made a great recovery, her DC was born Monday night and they were both home Wednesday afternoon.

As a side issue, I don't know if this was another worry either, but don't be concerned about your gestation, your baby will be fine at 37 weeks. I had DS at 33 weeks and he is great.

backintraining · 15/03/2010 13:56

Sorry, should have been borning and tiring not borning!!

mumtobe2010 · 15/03/2010 14:50

Thanks backintraining I am so excited to meet our baby just want her here and healthy. Everything was perfect for me until I reached 33 weeks and was told I had OC then the worry started. I suppose they have to tell you of the risks but sometimes I wish I hadn't been told. I'm sure our baba will be fine just like your friends and yours :D

Yea I can imagine it being really boring, doctor told me that I'll need tablets all 6 hours apart then they should be able to break my waters, this makes this weekend a very long one unless we get a suprise and I don't need all of the tablets.

mum is this your first dc? If so then induction might take a little longer

First time I had oc was actually my 3rd child, had passary about 11am, tightenings all day but completely manageable, then into delivery at 7pm to have waters broken, labour from that point was text book and ds was born at 4.27am.

2nd time had passary at 8am and had prostin pains all day at 3mins apart, very manageable too, about 10pm had pethadine and went to sleep, ctx died off. Went through at 11am next morning to have waters broken and dd was born at 7pm

hope this helps, just try to relax, it really is the key to a smoother labour.

girlsyearapart · 15/03/2010 20:03

also since I posted I read this months Mother and Baby mag and one of the features was a lady who was induced due to OC and all was fine.

liahgen66 · 15/03/2010 20:40

I was featured in M&B mag with my oc. Was it an old copy?

girlsyearapart · 15/03/2010 20:55

no was this months one and was her first baby so not you! how are you anyway?

mumtobe2010 · 16/03/2010 10:56

Am ok thanks girls publicity whore me, have been in most of the parenting mags at some point or another. How are you?

mum good you're getting regular scans, it's reassuring to see all is well. Have you been taking urso? You know you can take piriton prescribed if the itching is really bad don't you?

keep us informed, you'll be fine.

girlsyearapart · 16/03/2010 19:38

how did the scan go mum? liaghen I'm fine 20 wks now and pretty hefty bump. Seeing consultant after my scan to discuss birth on the MLU and reducing chances of retained placenta.

mumtobe2010 · 17/03/2010 13:43

Bloods have gone right up again :-( but scan went really well baby got top scores :-)

Yea I've been taking urso, vitamin k and piriton.

Thanks girls

mum if it's any consolation levels will fluctuate, doesn't necessarily mean the worst. Only couple more days till you meet your little one now.

girls hopefully they will agree to your wishes and you will labour well on the mlu, I had a lady last year who had had big pph on her first birth, laboured beautifully and with no assistance second time round. No reason to think you will retain again this time. Good luck to you.

mumtobe2010 · 25/03/2010 09:54

Hi girls.

Just to let you know, I had a beautiful baby girl on Sunday at 3am, she's so worth the worry I went through! We got home 12pm Monday and already it seems like I've had her here forever. Induction took it's time, had first tablet at 2pm Friday then second at 9pm Friday, never slept all Friday night with back pains, went back down for 3rd tablet at 8am Saturday morning. Waters were able to be broke at around 3pm Saturday and 12 hours later I had my gorgeous little girl!
