How long was your ex prem hairy for ?

DS was born at 35 weeks, and looked like a little werewolf (his hairy ears especially). Some hair dropped out, but at 2.7, his back is still really hairy

Just wondered if this was common ?

Youngest Manky was a 35 weeker...he still has some lovely dark hair on his back in a v from his shoulder blades down but other than that not bad. He is now 3yrs 3mths.
In fact he went from looking like the yeti to being bald by the time he was 9mths old.

DS never lost his head hair - he had loads as a newborn. In fact my outstanding memory of being admitted with PPROM was the knackered SHO peering up my fanjo with an industrial torch to see if my waters had really gone, and commenting that they obviously had as she could see that he had dark hair. And then he obv moved as a huge gush went all over her...

OOOh I remember then saying when I went into full blown labour with DS, oooh look at the head of hair! I thought they meant blonde hair, as my other two were very fair and my oldest was born with a thatch of blonde hair he never lost.
I was in shock when they presented a baby that was covered in thick blak hair over the screen (had a cs)
I was gutted when he went bald, but he has loads now although it is fine.

My ds3 was only 2 weeks early but extremely hairy on his back and legs lol i had c section and when they said he was hairy i was preparing myself for a wolfboy

Ds 33 weeks. I reckon he lost his hairy back and shoulders by about 6 or 7 months. Very thick black head hair stayed and then gradually changed to blonde (ds looked like a badger for a while ).

Tink still is and my niece who's 7 and a 32 weeker still is. I think some kids never lose it.

Oh well, he's destined to be like his dad then !

Yes - and on close inspection last night when we were in the bath together, I noticed that DS still has quite hairy ears - it's just that the hair is blond and usually hidden under his hair (as I am lax in cutting it).

The only other person I know in RL with a preemie is one of my customers who had very prem twins - and it doesn't quite seem the same. And as we were chucked out of hospital with never another appointment or followup (and no one ever believed me that he was prem due to his weight, even though I had scans at 6,8,10,13, 20, and 32 weeks that all had the same date), I never had a chance to talk about anything

How is FiFi doing ? I was thinking about you the week she was born as I was at the Birmingham Cancer centre on the same site as Womens

I love prem ears lol. Fifi isn't as hairy on the ears but she does have a hairy back!

She's doing really well, still a lazy feeder, but she's growing the right way. We may be going back in tomorrow for another jaundice test depending what the MW thinks of her colour (routine because she will be three weeks). She's had bit of a cold this week as I'm the only one that's been trying to keep the girls separate! I spent over 24 hours trying to keep her upright as she started choking/ coughing/ sneezing each time she lay down, the first night she couldn't feed so I had to syringe in some EBM, but the good feed (90ml over night/ 2 feeds!) has helped her colour.

It's a shame you couldn't let me know (are you in the Picnic FB group?) as I could have met up with you - I was always appreciating an excuse to go downstairs, I had some awful room mates!
