My dear daughter was born at 35+ weeks and was 4 lb 13oz (although I never agreed with dates and think more like 34 weeks). Anyway she is now 11+ weeks old so corrected age about 7 weeks but she is still sleeping about 21 hours a day. She has had a cold and cough the past week too. Has any one else had a similar experience? She was jaundiced for about 3 weeks also but assume this is ok now.

My ds1 is 11 weeks old (born at 37) and can only stay up for about an hour and a half without losing it. This has progressed from 45 mins. I am quite surprised (but secretly delighted) how sleepy he is. My dds were both sleepy too but he trumps them. Their brains develop when they are asleep so we must be having super clever kids!? I am ff and think that may contribute to them being knocked out . When I was bf they were all 3 awake the whole time...

My ds was born at 31+ weeks and I can honestly say it felt like he did nothing but sleep for the first 6 months!

Now he is a year old I am lucky if he sleeps 1 hour during the day.

He does sleep for 12 hours at night though so should be grateful for that!

I would say the amount your dd sleeps is perfectly normal.

Don't forget she should still only be 5 weeks old, bless.

My DS was born at 35 weeks, and now almost 7 month slater, he still sleeps a lot! far more than my other DC ever did. he was still sleeping 20 hours a day at 5 months old. he sleeps 12 hours at night (my other DC were over a year before that happened) and has 2 or 3 two hours naps a day.
