Has anyone else delivered at 33 weeks?

I may have cholestasis and will have to deliver early if so.
Anyone else had their baby at 33 weeks?
Were they okay? How long were they in NICU for? Any longer term issues?
Thanks :-)

I had one at 30 weeks who spent 4 weeks in NICU and one at 32 weeks who was in NICU for ten days.

Both absolutely fine now and no one would know.

Good luck. It's a scary and lonely time in NICU.

32+4
She's now a very healthy 12 year old
She was in SCBU for four weeks, to put a bit of weight on and so we could establish feeding. It was pretty tiring coming into hospital every day but we were very well looked after. My top tip if you are planning to breastfeed would be to express with a pump as much as possible in the days after delivery. The hospital will provide this. I was pretty half arsed about doing this and my milj took ages to come in

I was born at 33 weeks as DM had pre eclampsia.
There wasn't the technology in the 60s.
I made it
I'm 58 now.😁

My twins were 32 weeks; 2.9lbs and 3.7 lbs. They stayed in SCBU for 5 weeks. 33 now and fighting fit 😃

I gave birth at 31 weeks, ds was in SCBU for 5 weeks but he had other complications.
He's 23 now, despite his difficulties at birth he's been as fit as a flea all his life, has a First Class degree and no-one would guess his start in life.
Good luck.

My daughter was delivered at 34+0 due to placenta issues and iugr. They weren't sure if she had any other issues but fortunately not - she was just tiny (3lb6 at birth). She was in nicu for three weeks and one day. It was rubbish but since discharged she has been absolutely fine. Good luck.

My 33 weeker was in scbu for 12 days. 7 years old now and all is well.

Angharad78 · 18/11/2024 19:46

33+6 and she was just under 2kg. Now an absolute riot of a 2 year old. Perhaps a bit late to some milestones but no concerns. Born after I developed an infection.

She was in NICU for 28 long, hard days (going up and down dependency levels). Things which were especially hard: the day I left hospital without her, establishing breastfeeding (but we did!) and being away from my son who was 3.

lean on all the support you can. It’s tough but 33 weeks is not unusual.

I was also born at 33 weeks, in the 70s a week in an incubator. Fit and well.
Good luck.

31 weeks due to HELLP syndrome. I think he spent about 6 weeks in SCBU. He turns 30 next year and while there have been some health worries on the whole he did amazing. Thinking of you and sending best wishes x

31 weeks, she will be 25 on Sunday. She was in NICU for almost 4 weeks. Nothing related to being born early as far as I know, but she was a bit slower than my previous two developmentally.
