Thank You Gift

My son is seeing the neonatologist for his final check up next Monday. He is planning to discharge him as he is absolutely fine and this is mainly because of the excellent care he received when he was tiny (he is 4 now!)

I would like to thank the consultant somehow but I can't think of anything to get him.

Do you think he would appreciate us raising some money for the NICU rather than getting him a gift?

We haven't been to visit the Unit for ages as DS always seems to have a cold/cough and I wouldn't want him passing anything on. We did raise some money when he was small with my niece and nephew's school and this was gratefully received.

The nurses might have forgotten him by now though!

How about a picture frame with two slots - put a pic of your DS when he was a baby and one of him now?

Or get your DS to make a thank you card with same pics on?

I'm sure the consultant would appreciate a token gift such as a bottle of wine etc. NHS staff can't accept any gifts over a value normally of £10 - each organisation has their own policy but it is fairly standard ( to avoid any fraud etc). As an NHS employee I am always thrilled when patients express their gratitude with a card / letter and it goes a long way to remind staff their efforts are valued.
