I was wondering if anyone had any words of advice or a similar experience at all… firstly, this is my first baby.
I’m 36 weeks today and my waters broke at 2am this morning with no contractions. I was advised to come to the hospital for monitoring and antibiotics which I have done. Cervix was checked at 4am and no dilation at all and contractions didn’t start until around 6am very sporadic without much of a pattern and now have stopped completely. I’ve been told they are going to keep me in for 72 hours on antibiotics and if no baby then I’ll go home and have an induction next Monday. (I did question this as I was under the impression baby had to come out by 48 hours…

Now my question is has anyone else been in this situation?
Do I wait until Monday and hope that baby either comes naturally in the meantime or via induction on the Monday or do I question whether to have a C-section now or potentially wait and still need one next week (they’re saying wednesday).

Any past experiences or advice is welcomed!
I’m quite relaxed about the whole situation but just a little unsure on next steps really!

Thank you!

The baby only has to come out quickly if you're past 37 weeks - that's when the benefits outweigh the risks. Before that the risks of them being born early are larger than the risks of leaving them in.

My waters broke at 34 weeks and I was given antibiotics and steroids and induced at 37 weeks. I had a additional scans and blood tests to check on DD, and to check for infection. I was also told to come back in straight away if I had signs of infection like a temp.
