So bit of a long post my baby is 3months old (6weeks corrected) and is on SMA Prem milk. She was originally on nutriprem 2 but was constantly screaming and taking 3days to poop so milk got changed and shes been on laxatives ever since. She is gaining weight very quickily gone from 3lb 14oz to now 13lb 11oz and have noticed shes now getting sores in her little rolls, i want to put her onto normal formula milk as she dont need the extra calories anymore. Do i need to stick to SMA or am i able to change brands with new milk? Im just so lost as still dont know whats causing the struggle to poop so dont know whether to go with a new brand completely or will this just cause more damage. Doctors are useless as they dont know anything about premature milk and health Visitor is just as bad.

According to this article you should give the Prem Milk fir 6 months from when your baby was due.

On her prescription it states they wanted to review it at 3months old (from birth) but im still waiting for the health Visitor to get back to me about it, just unsure on what to do as her sores are making her really uncomfortable as she is gaining weight quicker than she is growing in length

My ds was prescribed infatrini.

Ignore my last message, if she is gaining so much then infatrini isn't suitable. My ds had it due to not gaining and being a skinny thing.

I’d say try contact the health visitor to check or gp. Dd2 was on nutriprem 2 until I think maybe 12 weeks then she went onto normal milk after the nurses said to take her off the nutriprem 2. She’s now on Cow and Gate first milk. She’s 20 weeks and weighs 13lb today. I think if she’s gaining so much she needs to be on normal milk now. That’s what our outreach nurses said anyway.
