Hi ladies has anyone tried the wake and feed method ? My baby is 3 months and a bit but adjusted age 2 weeks and bit and I’ve noticed he feeds more during the evening for example he usually feeds every 3 hours during the day but evening I would say 2 otherwise he stays awake Till 1am unless he has a feed! When he has 2 he sleeps a longer stretch nearly 5 hours ! That's the max he can go without a feed because he's premature his weight is fine btw I think they just like to take extra precautions Should I wake him to feed every 2 hours ? Because he takes it ... and I can hear him sucking in his sleep too also he has 90mls should I half the feed or ? I'm nervous I'll upset his tummy sorry first time mum!

Hi, mine is similar; likes to feed every 3-4 hours in the day, every 2 hours in the evening up till about midnight, then will sleep for around 5 hours. She was born at 33 weeks and is now 5 weeks adjusted.

Personally I would not wake him to feed every two hours. If he was very hungry he would wake and unbroken rest is important for them too. Also you risk overloading his tummy, and if you half his feed you might find that he becomes fussy and unhappy as he has been woken up to eat but left not fully satisfied (or at least that's what my greedy mare would do!) The sucking sounds are probably just dream movements.

If he is gaining weight well then keep on what you're doing letting his mind and belly have a good rest at night time :)
